Historical Moment at Massey High
Today we marked a historical moment at school where we were able to ‘test’ our very own hangi pit.
A remarkable achievement and many were involved in the process of getting us to this point.
We would like to thank especially our Building Academy students and tutors who built the concrete pit, and our junior Te Reo Māori students and Te Whare Ahuru, who helped prepare and organise the kai, and to our U15 rugby boys who came to school early hours in the morning to be part of the burning process. Not to mention our teachers who have been immense with helping today.
Having this hangi pit on-site now will ensure we can support our community with student funding and for hosting hakari (feasts) for large events in 2021 and beyond. Exciting times ahead for Massey High School.
