You may be aware that the PPTA is undertaking industrial action over the course of Term One. This involves PPTA members withholding covering internal cover where that internal cover would be in their non-contact time. This industrial action is nationwide.

There is the potential for this to cause some disruption should the school be faced with situations where large amounts of cover are required.

We advise that we do have a fantastic pool of external relief teachers that will go a long way to ensuring that disruptions are kept to a minimum.

Should there be a requirement to combine classes to cover an absence, we advise that the terms of the industrial action mean that those classes would be supervised, but not taught – students would work on pre-set work independently.

The Strategic Leadership Team have plans in place for a number of eventualities, with the focus being on minimising disruption to student learning. We will keep our community informed.

The PPTA have also today announced the date of a one-day Strike. It will take place on Thursday 16th March. More information will be sent out closer to that date.
