Update - Return to School

Tēnā tātou e te whānau whānui o Tiriwā,

Firstly, our thoughts are with those members of our wider community that have suffered disruption or loss as the result of ex-Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle. Our Muriwai community in particular have experienced upheaval on a monumental scale.

Following an evaluation of our school-site and taking into consideration that the weather system will continue to move past us today we can advise that Massey High School will re-open tomorrow, Wednesday 15th February (Day 8).

We are aware that there are areas of our community that may not be able to attend immediately as the result of flood damage, disruption to roads and transport routes, or other difficulties associated with storm damage. For those families – your personal safety is the priority, and your return to school should take personal circumstance into consideration. 

Likewise, we understand that some students may arrive late due to transport issues.

For any student who will have a delayed return to school, we ask that you contact your Dean in the first instance either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Full contact details are listed below:

Bus Information

Further information with regard to any amendments to Ritchies Bus routes will be posted as they become available. 

At this stage Ritchies has advised that the following services will run:

  • Bus 12 Scenic Drive – Changes to route due to flooding as per notification last week - 8am Bus 12 will pick up students at the Rangimarie/Scenic drive stop. This is also the drop-off point.
  • Bus 1 - 7:50am Bus 1 will pick up students at the corner of Te Henga/Scenic Drive. This is also the drop-off point.
  • Bus 11 Taupaki
  • Bus 3 Riverhead
  • Bus 7 Huapai
  • Bus 9 Muriwai
  • Bus 5/6/10 Colwill/Oriel
  • Bus 100 Te Atatu.

The information is subject to change depending on conditions, please monitor the school website and social media pages for further information as it comes to hand.

AT routes will be running as close to normal as possible – please monitor the AT website for further information on public bus routes.

For those students attending, the structure for Wednesday is as follows:

9.10am                        

Years 9, 10, 11, and 13 - special tutor time in tutor rooms

Year 12 - assembly in BRPAC

9.25am                        

All Year Levels - Period 1 (shortened) start 

Rest of Day – as per normal timetable (Day 8)

Remember, students can log on to the SchoolBridge App to check timetabled classes. Access the SchoolBridge App and click on “Timetable/Attendance”. 

If you have any blanks in your timetable, you will need to see your Ākina Leader tomorrow. Please note that Ākina Leaders will only be dealing with students with blanks or clashes – not those wanting to change subjects.
