In the past week, all whānau of Year 10, 11, 12, and 13 students who do not have Literacy and/or Numeracy have been emailed about the Common Assessment Activities (CAAs) taking place in Term 2.  Students are working towards these assessments in class and may be given activities to complete on Education Perfect to help them prepare.

To gain Literacy, students need to complete 2 assessments:

  • Reading: where students need to read a series of texts and answer questions based on these texts
  • Writing: where students are given a series of prompts and need to write

To gain Numeracy, students need to complete 1 assessment:

  • Where students are given a series of Numeracy questions to answer

Each of these assessments take 1-1.5 hours to complete.

For students in Te Whare Āhuru, to gain te reo matatini, they need to complete 2 assessments:

  • Te Reo Torohū
  • Te Reo Whakaputa

To gain Pāngarau, students need to complete 1 assessment:

  • Pāngarau

Each of these assessments take 1-1.5 hours to complete.  For more information regarding specific content, they should talk to their Kaiako.

Once students have completed the Literacy and Numeracy parts of their qualification, they do not need to sit them again as that criteria remains completed.
