Massey High School became aware of two COVID-19 cases in our community during the weekend. The students were at school on Wednesday 9th February and/or Thursday 10th February – the two cases are unrelated.
All caregivers were emailed this information on Monday 14th February (please note that a second email followed it with a retraction regarding an administrative error).
We have worked with the Ministry of Education and the National Investigation and Tracing Centre to identify potential close contacts; they were contacted on Sunday afternoon and were not at school today.
Those students identified as CLOSE CONTACTS were contacted during the weekend and are following COVID protocols. No other students have been identified as CLOSE CONTACTS, largely due to the regular movement from classes and our students wearing their masks whilst indoors.
PLEASE NOTE – unless you have been notified of CLOSE CONTACT:

** This information was sent to our community on Monday 14th February as a retraction and apology less than 15 minutes after the original notice was sent out.
Some may have notice that the word “Māori” should not have been listed where it is – it is an unfortunate error through copying and pasting and sourcing a macron for use elsewhere in the communication.
The correct wording should of course read as:
Symptoms of COVID-19
All other information is correct. Massey High School apologises unreservedly for any distress this may have caused.
