Growing Change, One Project at a Time

From community gardens to recycled art and school planting projects, our Tourism Academy students are helping build a more sustainable future.

On 30 June, the Level 3 Tourism Academy students presented their Eco-Tourism Projects at Auckland Zoo. Throughout Term 2, students worked on projects designed to promote environmental sustainability and community engagement.

One group partnered with Seven Stars Kindergarten to create a vegetable garden using planter boxes built from recycled wood sourced through Massey High School's Building Academy. Another group collaborated with the Massey Community Hub, transforming waste and litter into artwork that is now on display at the hub. The third group worked with the Hospitality Department at Massey High School to plant fruit trees and vegetables in the school garden, along with snake plants around the café to help improve air quality. Each project required extensive planning, budgeting, and communication to ensure it was completed to a high standard. The success of all three projects is a testament to the students' hard work, creativity, and commitment to making a positive impact on their community. A huge thank you to all of our community partners for their support and participation, and congratulations to our Level 3 Tourism Academy students on their outstanding achievements.
