Principal's Pānui

21 July 2026

Welcome back to what will be a very busy Term 3 for students and staff alike.  NCEA Assessments and progress toward their current level of qualification are at the fore for our senior students. Similarly, our junior students will be undertaking their own assessments at the end of topics and further developing the skills they will need to succeed when they reach the senior school. For our staff the looming changes to curriculum and assessment sit alongside their current workload. Added to this are the wider aspects of school life – Arts Week, Tournament Week, Senior Exams, and option selections for next year.

As many will be aware, our annual Senior School Ball was held in the second week of the holidays. As always, our students who attended were outstanding, and they again garnered compliments from the venue.

If I can express my thanks to all students who attended, and to parents and caregivers who ensured that their children arrived and departed safely and prepared so well for the event.

I’d also like to thank our staff involved in the behind-the-scenes operations and thank those who gave their time to attend the ball.

A reminder that Parent/Teacher meetings are next week, a strong partnership between student, parent, and school is a strong contributor to success – I would encourage you all to make appointments as necessary to discuss progress to date, and areas to work on moving forward. Appointments can be made via SchoolBridge. Following this are weeks focused on students making decisions on their courses of study for next year – this can also be discussed at Parent/Teacher meetings.

Our Refurbishment of E Block is now complete (the brand-new desks and chairs arrived last week as well). The remediation of the Science block is only a couple of weeks away from completion, which will see the return of 2 classrooms and a return to more comfortable, permanent surroundings for our Science Faculty staff who have had to make numerous adaptations to their daily routines over the past couple of years.
