Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) Regional Finals

Two of our Level 3 Business teams represented Massey High School at the Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) Regional Finals on Tuesday, 21 October, standing proudly alongside schools from across West Auckland.

Aromana, consisting of Ray Lebis, Lucy Ward, Harveer Talwar, Sam Saufoi, and Caden Switzer, were one of only six businesses chosen to pitch live for a spot at Nationals. Their Pasifika-inspired, sustainable soap bars impressed the judges with their calm confidence, strong visuals, and genuine storytelling ability. Aromana opened the pitches for West Auckland, setting the tone for the rest of the schools.

When asked about the name Aromana, Ray explained that “Aro” reflects both aroha and aroma, while “Mana” represents respect, authority, and aura – a perfect reflection of their kaupapa and cultural pride. Ray’s booming opening line, “I’m Ray, the CEO!” broke the ice and captured the audience's attention. Aromana went on to win an Excellence in Marketing & Communication award and a Regional Finalist award.

Easy Shine Auto Detailing, consisting of Abdalla Ahmed, Isaac Anothai, Mohammad Ali Ansari, and Jack Emmott, also represented Massey, earning an Excellence in Business Management award for their strong organisation and execution.

A big shout out to Mr Pauli and Mr Fonseca for their efforts with the Level 3 Business students! Both groups showed what Massey students do best – creativity, courage, and pride in who they are. The future of West Auckland businesses is looking bright!
